Learning Module 5 - What I learned

This Learning Module was very fun. I learned how to use a few web2.0 websites. I liked Kizoa, it was really easy to use, but you really can't do a lot of extra stuff with it. It was very basic. I, being a graphic designer, am used to being able to do whatever I like with my pictures and making a really cool, not so jerky slideshow. I guess I am pretty particular with my projects. I liked doing the Voki too. It was fun picking out all the details of it. I wish there were more to choose from. I really learned alot about p2p and the illegal uploading of music. I knew it was a problem in this country, but I didn't realize how much of a problem it is all over the world. I think that it has really become an addiction. Kids especially just can't seem to quit doing it, even though they know that it is illegal, and could have real consequences to it, like a huge fine, and being kicked out of school. Some new terms I learned were: 1. Folksonomy - practice and method of collaboratively creating and managing tags to annotate and categorize content. The good thing about this is that you can use your own tags - use your own language. 2. Mashup - A web application hybrid that combines data from multiple sources. There are two types: A) Presentation-centric - Widgets, Gadgets, Embedding, Etc. and B) Data-centric - News Feeds (RSS, Atom), stock tickers, maps and forms. 3. Vodcasting - a video podcast. It is a podcast in a compressed movie format. It will often contain a combination of animated sequences, moving images and sount. 4. Podcasting - an audio recording (like a mini radio show). It can be very short, or 30 minutes long. It is an MP3 file that anyone can download.
